Not to say I didn't try, of course:
I spoke of childhood, I spoke of love,
I spoke of friendship, trust, and thought.
And yet something was missing.
You wanted to know why we do what we do,
What sends us on our paths.
I thought it might be hope,
Or perhaps ambition, maybe survival,
Or a combination of all in one unnamed feeling.
